BOTONG TWIN FALLS - "Nature's Gift to Sorsogon"

One of the best eco-tourism attraction of Sorsogon now a days, is the Botong Twin Falls. The Botong Twin Falls is located on the mountainous part of Osiao, Bacon District, Sorsogon City.The said twin falls was developed and maintained by PNOC-Bacman Geothermal Production Field, for the purpose of Eco-Tourism not only for Bacman but for the Province of Sorsogon as well. Botong Twin Falls serves as a Tourist attraction for both local and foreign tourist, it serves also as a venue for Educational Tours.
The famous falls is called twin because of the two sources of of water that flows through it. One is fresh water while the other is sulfuric. They fall from a height of about 30 metrs to a man made lagoon and eventually flow to the Osiao River.
Botong Twin Falls is ideal for picnic,eco-tourist destinations and also a very good site for pictorials. It is open to the public for visitation, provided there is a proper permission and coordination to the host Company,the PNOC-Bacman Geothermal Production Field. BOTONG TWIN FALLS

The famed Botong Twin Falls (Bacon, Sorsogon City) is composed of 2 sources, one is the freshwater the other is sulfuric. They fall from a height of about 30 meters to a man made lagoon and flow to the Osiao River.

The Botong Twin Falls is ideal for picnic/ecotourist destination. Improvements may include located picnic huts and tables. The said falls is located in the mountain of Botong, of Bacon area on the site also where Bacman Geothermal Producyio Field is located.

Botong twin falls is developed by the PNOC-Bacman Geothrmal Production Field here in Sorsogon City, and it is open to the public for visit or tour as long as there is a proper permission from the host company. Botong Twin Falls....Pride of Sorsogon!

BRGY.TUGOS, SORSOGON CITY "Model Barangay on Ecological Solid Waste Management System"

Barangay Tugos, Sorsogon City (West District), was Awarded as Model Barangay on Solid Waste Management by the Dept.of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) last July 17,2004. According to Brgy.Captain Rogelio Jebulan Sr. they achieved the said award because of their response to Republic Act 9003 also known as the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000, by the National Government,the DENR and the City Government of Sorsogon headed by City Mayor, Hon. Sally A. Lee.

July 15,2004 when Brgy.Captain Rogelio Jebulan Sr. recieved an information that the said Barangay is a candidate for the Nation Wide Search for Model Barangays for Eco Waste Management System 2003-2004. The concept of this Search is the active implementation on proper waste disposal, such as Segregation,Composting and the Stablishment of the Materials Recovery Faciliy (MRF) where the non-biodegreable (recyclable) waste are stored and later sell it to thr junkshop for the purpose of recycling.

Out of 500 Barangays accross the country,who participated the search, only 180 Barangays made it to the final search and Brgy.Tugos is one of those who was choosen to be a finalist. Four Barangays from Sorsogon have been choosen as finalist they are Brgy.Lubiano of Pilar,Sorsogon, Brgy.Diamante of Prieto Diaz, Brgy.Poblacion of Bacon District and Brgy.Tugos of Sorsogon City. Province wide it was Brgy.Lubiano got the highest commendation, followed by Brgy.Tugos of Sorsogon City that brought the said Barangay to be Awarded as the Model Barangay.

Although in the National Level, Brgy.Tugos didin"t make it, still the said Barangay recieved an Award of Recognition which was held in Malacanang Palace with the presence of the President of the Republic the Philippines, Her Exellency President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. According to Brgy.Captain Rogelio Jebulan Sr. " the continous implementation of comprehensive Solide Waste Management Program is the ultimate goal of his Administration, to promote zero waste in his Barangay and maybe next year they can make it already in the National Level."

Everytime I see a painting, comic drawings or watch animated movies on tv's, I can't help myself but to admire the hands of the person who created such master piece. I myself knows how to do such things,but good only to draw my kid's project at School. Back on my childhood, specially on my Elementary and High School days, KOMIKS is the very popular way of entertainment here in SORSOGON (to both young and old) I've been fascinated by the minds of the writter and the hands of the artist who gave life to all the characters on the story that I am reading.

Now a day's Komiks are still on the Newstand here in Sorsogon City but not as popular anymore like of the 70's and the 80's. Animated movies are the newest craze among young and old alike. Here is it now....to my amazed when I found out that behind all those animated movies that me and my children are watching, is the mind and the hands of a great WORLD CLASS ILLUSTRATOR WHO IS FROM SORSOGON.......YES! tama an nabasa niyo, isad san pinakasikat na Comics and Animation Artist niyan sa USA taga GUBAT,SORSOGON. Isad na orgolyo para sa akon na ipakilala sa iyo si.....FLORO DERY, kilalang-kilala siya sa Amerika, pero dili siya masyado kilala didi sa sadiri niya na banwa. Greetings to all Sorsoguenos who will read this posted article of mine. If you have been far away from Sorsogon for a long time and you will picture in your mind our Rempeolas or for some they call it as Pier, maybe what will you see in the screen of your imagination is the messy and the dark picture of the Rompeolas. But today it is very different from yesterday's image of the said place.

Through the leadership of Sorsogon City Mayor,Hon.Sally A.Lee, the Rompeolas now a day's is a very nice place to walk in or to jogg in every morning.If you want to take your breakfast with your family (with suman lihiya,ibos,biko,lanson and pancit that you buy "sa plaza")well it's a very nice place to dine because of the cottage type shade that is built on the side of the Rompeolas. In the evening, the Rompeolas is a nice place to take a rest after a hard days work, because of it's very bright ambiance given by those beautiful street lights all through out the Rompeolas.

Vendors of fihballs,kikiams and other delacasies are just around for the people who wants to take some snacks.So in general, MAGAYONON NA NIYAN AN ROMPEOLAS... Okey mga kabayan hanggan didi na lang anay.. "ULI NA KAMO SA SORSOGON NAN MAG PASYAR KAMO SA ROMPEOLAS".....
